Rob's Rasta Skid Plate Set Install (20080524)

I will add comments for more of these images later, but I gotta get some sleep
for now...

In some of these images, you can see the wire we used to hold the plates in
place while bolting them up.
This shows where the transfer plate and gas tank plate meet.

Some of the pieces (like the brackets for the gas tank plate) were a bit
trickier to get to...

...but we got er done.

I don't know about Rob, but my neck and the sides of my hips hurt for the next
few days
...haven't done this kind of work for a long time.

This is just the last few minutes of the install process;
as we were going through the final tightening of all the screws and bolts....
Hey, what's that?...another Sandstorm up on the ramps?

...and what's this I see....no skid plates?

Well, OK, it does have the factory default plates, but they're really not for
skidding.
They're really only protect from certain objects that may bounce up off the
ground while driving and hit the underside.

As you can see, these have already done a bit more than that.

Doh!! Now, what's that?

Shhhhh. Don't tell Rob, but I put his old optional front skid plate on Sandi.
;)

In this photo, you can see why I already lost one of the large spacers;

I only tightened the front four, and completely forgot about the back two (the
ones with the large spacers).
One of them (passenger) fell out; probably on Pole Hill Rd. where we went
a day or two after the installation.
Oh,
here's a link to see photos from the little trail run we did that day after the project.
Also,
here's a link to the page for Paul's project to create a replacement for
the missing spacer.
