Night Run at Middle St.Vrain and Coney Flats with some other Colorado FJs (20100726)
...or, 2010 FJ Summit - Day 6   ;)

Some of us (FJinCO, Ranger92 and my self)
were still so caught up in the fun of Summit week that we couldn't let it end.
So, we decided to head up to do Middle St.Vrain and Coney Flats after work
on the Monday night just after getting back from Ouray the day before.

fj4M&E joined in as well, and it was a blast!

Here's a link to the thread about this trail run on the forum

Now, (once again) the photos for this run are a bit Sandi-heavy.
Sorry, but with trying to get through it at least sorta quickly,
I usually only had time to get out and snap a quick shot and get going again.
If we were to camp here some time, we'd have a lot of time to play around and do some pretty cool shots together.

anyway...

Three of us met at the Diamond Shamrock in Lyons, and then Ranger92 caught up at Camp Dick in Peaceful Valley.
Here we are on our way up South St.Vrain Canyon

lots of glass on the ground at this spot

yep

We were all kinda scratching our heads for a minute or so; trying to figure out exactly how that other rig
got in such bad shape at this particular optional obstacle ...it's not at all necessary, no matter which line you take
We generally concluded that there must have been a bit of high speed involved.

here's Ranger92 (Voodoo Blue) at the big rock obstacle where people usually go around on the driver side when going West
....which is what he's doing here

This is at the big creek crossing on MSV.
FJinCO (Titanium Metallic) was all set ...good thing we didn't need any such help
...and never do on this loop, but ya never know what you're gonna come up with
(maybe a tree that needs to be pulled off the road or something)

here's fj4M&E (Black Diamond)
(notice the unlit light bar....it's featured prominently below once it's on)

need a light?

We got to see the sun set on Middle St.Vrain, and the moon rise up at Coney Flats

Here's fj4M&E just about to come up out of the water after crossing the creek at Coney Flats

It was pitch black out at this time....
I used extended exposure and my spot light to brighten things up a bit (foreground, the FJCs and the trees in the background)
...and then lightened the photo a bit more at home to see them all clearly

Well, there it is.
Personally, I enjoy that trail more in the day light, and when we have time to fool around more,
but just being able to get out like this on an evening after work was amazing.

The scenery, at times, was (obviously) something entirely different that we have never seen before when we've done these trails during the day.
So, even that right there makes it worth doing a night run
...oh, and being able to say "We did a night run on MSV and CF"  he he he   j/k   :-)

Doing the trail with friends though is what it's all about.
Thanks, guys.
