On Saturday, we went over Imogene Pass to Telluride
Images on this page are from the journey on our way up on the Ouray side.

As we approached this area, just out of the woods, the group immediately in front of us was just going through
this optional obstacle section.
I always like to do this one... it puts something more challenging in the trail run for those that want it.

then it was our group's turn

Just before the waterfall (on the left, just past this in the direction of travel here),
we turned some of our FJ Cruisers into a ferry line

There are at least three ways to cross the creek at this crossing.
Most of the time, we take the easy route through the water, where the Voodoo Blue is crossing.
Next time, I think I'm going to try the more challenging route half way between there and the large rock in the foreground.
Funny thing is, there's a bridge now, and that's where I'm taking this shot from.

After a stop at the old mining area at the base of the steep climb through the skree slopes,
we decided to cross the dam to get back over to the main road.

back on the main road

Sometime, I want to see if we can get up that little road that goes up the mountainside behind the mining area.
Seems like it would be cool to walk over to that little waterfall (near center), and snap some shots.

this is what I saw when I looked in my driver side mirror......well, sort of ;)

This is where we got stopped by a bulldozer blocking the trail, and turned around to go back down
when we were scouting out this trail just a couple weeks ago on the 5th (here).
On this occasion, the trail was open the whole way though. So, on we went...

One of the guys in our group suggested over the radio that we pick a spot where we can all stop
to get a group shot along the road where the snow walls tower over us.

I loved the idea, and I'm really glad others liked it as well (including some of the joggers passing by who stopped to take photos)

I always love looking back down at where we just came up from...

This is that little overlook sort of spot where we turned to the left just before getting to the summit.
Perhaps they are light, but I wish people wouldn't do this...

It's not just that I care about the tundra (which I do), but it just makes us all look bad.

Ptarmigan Lake is visible in this photo; just above dead center, or go 1/3 down from center-top.
Once you find it, you'll notice the reflection of the snow and the rocks that are behind it.

It was nice to take a break, and hang out with friends.
