It starts out fine, but then goes into something totally different than what the point of the page is supposed to be. This is most likely a hold-over from when this was part of another page where it fit more with what I was saying in previous and following statements but is now just kind of a mixed bunch of different comments that don't really have any obvious connection with each other. Oops. I guess I let this one slip for quite a while. Oh well. I'll get to it soon enough and put something here that makes more sense along the lines of what I intend to express with this page.


Here's how the page actually sits at the point I wrote that message to my self above on 20030804...
For me, the "examined life" is a foundation on which I desire all of my other thoughts and ideas to stand. Obviously, I'll never actually achieve perfection in this area, but it is my intent and I will walk in that light so long as it is on my mind. Understanding the intellectual foundation someone is standing on, their view of the world, the cosmos and the nature of reality is essential if we are ever going to understand or benefit from anything they have to say. 
    For instance, the statement, "I love every person" would mean something much different coming from a sexist than from an enlightened, liberated male homo sapien like my self who took his wife's last name when they got married because he (No, I wasn't just going along with it either. It was actually my idea.) wanted to make a statement by a man somewhere in history that said, "No, men are not more important than women!!". (that was not a plug for me, but for egalitarianism and for compassion and critical thinking)
