| Things
we Can Know for Sure at Every Fork in the Road |
I acknowledge that what we learn from modern science is true and accurate to the degree to which it
deals with things we can know for sure.
I choose to live in full awareness of the fact that this reality in front of my
face and that which we've discovered through valid, scientific methods is the
only true reality that I have to go on. Regardless of what I or anyone else ever
chooses to "believe", if I am going to be honest with my self, I must
acknowledge that every idea, concept and story which originates from and only
survives outside the realm of the careful, objective eye of the scientific
method is at best a matter of possibilities. I think that some of the
things which pass for wisdom these days are clearly nothing more than the work
of eloquent foolishness and brilliant nonsense.
Speculations in the hands of critical thinking, intelligent
scientists lead to either true discoveries or acknowledgements of finding
nothing or finding fault with one's own hypotheses, but for the pseudoscientist,
it is simply one of many ways of slipping through the cracks in the minds of their
followers, disguising what they want to "teach" people by wrapping it
in scientific terminology. Beware when someone instructs or invites you to
"just believe".
