Saturday, July 17th, 2010 - A Day in Yankee Boy Basin and an Evening in Ouray

The main attraction for this day was a drive up to Yankee Boy Basin
on the way up...
Since we knew that much of the time during the FJ Summit later in the week would be spent sitting down,
we tried to make sure to get in a hike of one sort or another every other day of the trip.
Today, we hiked down a ways from and back up to the trailhead for Mt. Sneffels (one of Colorado's most beautiful 14ers);
the furthest place you can drive to on this road.
This is looking back down into Yankee Boy Basin from the trailhead
From a distance, before we got here, I said, "Hey, that looks like a couple FJ Cruisers up there at the trailhead".
Sure enough, a Black Diamond and a Black Cherry.
The Black Cherry was on its way down before we started the hike.

Once in a while, I am able to catch these little guys in action
I'd really like to be able to get closer in with a better macro lens, but I guess this is cool enough for now.
