Sunday, July 18th, 2010 - Coal Bank, Red Mt. and Ouray

Andrews Lake;
just South of the summit of Molas Pass

looking South-west at Engineer Mountain in the distance. Here we can actually see the green meadow that we hiked up into just earlier.

After that, we headed to Silverton for a bit of shopping, snacking and the like
Here's one of our favorite little shops (with an FJC peeking fro around the corner)

nice rig

I had to take a shot of this one....in honor of my Mom

Our next stop was on a county road on Red Mountain Pass

This little lake was a fun spot for a photo shoot

Oh ya, here's one of the local clowns trying to climb this hill with his old Jeep
....what a joke ....and, No, he didn't make it    :P
The only reason he got that far up at all was from gunning it on the front end.

That evening, we had fish-n-chips at O'Brien's Pub (yum).
During dinner, we had the pleasure of live music from (and conversation with) Chris Hughes

I recalled seeing him somewhere last year, and I dug this photo out from when he performed at Bulow's Bistro
on Independence Day...

I've been saying for years that it would be cool to see a t-shirt or hat with a Toyota on it in the Ouray area
Now, I'm not positive (cause the grill is still a bit suspicious), but this is as close as I've seen yet.
If it had been more obviously a Toyota rig, I would have bought one of these that we saw at a shop in Ouray.

For some reason, I snapped this shot showing the Amphitheater behind Duckett's.
No Alpenglow yet this early in the evening, but it still looked cool.

Well, it was just another ho-hum, run-of-the-mill, average, beautiful day in Paradise    :P

An 84 year old man once said that to me (in jest of course) at the 'Rock Cut' mountain index in RMNP.
It stuck with me, and I slip it in every once in a while.
