Monday, July 19th, 2010 - a Hike to the Grassy Meadow above Ouray

When we're in Ouray, I always look up to that little, green meadow on top of the mountain on the North-East end of town,
and think about how cool it would be to get there some day.
Well, this time, Dale (owner/operator of the Ouray Hotel) heard me, and said,
"Oh, you just go up OCR14 (Ouray County Road 14) a little ways, turn this way, go here and then there, and you're at the trailhead."
So, we set out to do that hike today.

On our way up, we passed about 13 switch-backs
Here's the view to the West from one of them.
I thought I recalled Dale saying it was a mile hike from trailhead to the grassy meadow we were talking about,
but according to this sign (in that grassy meadow), we had just hiked 1.9 miles. Doh! :P
